Administrative Assistant (Berkeley CWC)

Bonita House, Inc. is a well-respected nonprofit mental health agency with multiple sites in Alameda County and an operating budget of $7.5 million. Founded in 1971, Bonita House is a social rehabilitation agency and provides a full range of Medi-Cal services to adults with co-occurring serious mental health and substance use disorders.

The Creative Wellness Center in Berkeley is a member-driven wellness and recovery mental health program which provides evaluation, rehabilitation, education, and vocational support to adults with psychiatric disabilities and partners with them to move towards more independent lives with meaningful choices.

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant will assist with various operational, clerical, administrative, and billing tasks, including lunch/snack coordination.  This position is part-time 10 hours/week.




  • Two years of post-secondary education or equivalent


  • Two years general office experience
  • Computer literate and proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and data entry
  • Knowledge of general office practices such as typing, filing, record keeping, use of office equipment including copy machine, calculator, and facsimile machine etc.
  • Good organization, communication, and English language skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with meal planning
  • Must have valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable by the Agency’s insurance company
  • Must have own car for occasional errands


  • Experience with people who are living with mental illness
  • Flexibility
  • Familiarity with safe food handling procedures
  • Sense of humor


Essential Functions/Skills:

  • Database entry and reports
  • Billing
  • Organizing files
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Troubleshoot office equipment problems
  • Equipment inventory
  • Answer telephone, direct calls, and take messages
  • Interact with clients regarding their lunch accounts
  • Other duties as assigned, including snack/lunch coordination
