Assistant Program Director (Team Lead) SIL

Bonita House, Inc. (BHI) is a well-respected nonprofit mental health agency with multiple sites in Alameda County and an operating budget of $7.5 million. It was founded in 1971. BHI is also a social rehabilitation agency providing a full range of Medi-Cal services to adults with co-occurring serious mental health and substance use disorders.

The Supported Independent Living Program provides integrated dual-diagnosis treatment in an outpatient case management setting to people with severe and persistent mental illness.  As a member of clinical case management team, the Assistant Program Director plays a critical role in supporting the team as they work with clients to make changes as they move through the stages of recovery, and assist them to transition from the behavioral health care system. Successful candidates will be knowledgeable and experienced employing intervention strategies using motivational interviewing, harm reduction and various treatment modalities.

 

We are looking for an organized, energetic, self-starter to take on the role as Assistant Program Director.  In the capacity of team lead, this position will:

 

·         Provide ongoing and as needed consultation, supervision, and training for program staff, and ensuring that staff efforts are directed towards urgent and emergent issues.

·         Function as the primary person ensuring all client cases meet medical necessity by completing and coordinating all

o    Initial and annual assessments

o    Initial and annual service plans

o    Initial and 6 month ANSAs

o    Annual CQRT chart reviews

o Monitoring staff documentation to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal, ACBHCS, and agency standards

·         Provide therapy services to dually-diagnosed adults and collaborate with case management staff to provide continuity of care.

·         Provide strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally humble, and non-judgmental high quality services.

·         Complete consistent documentation that is accurate, timely, clinically useful, and meets Medi-Cal, ACBHCS, and Bonita House standards. 

·         Engage in effective time management and sound clinical judgement in a fast-paced and quickly evolving environment.

·         Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

·         Master degree in social work, psychology, or a related field, plus license eligible and registered with BBS as an ASW or AMFT. Three to five years’ experience in substance abuse treatment or mental health treatment or related social service experience preferred.

·         Clinical skills and experience to assess, plan, develop, coordinate and provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services to SIL clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. Strong organizational skills essential. Ability to demonstrate calm, competent leadership during crises.

·         Skills and competence to establish supportive, trusting, respectful relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and co-occurring serious substance use disorders. Ability to provide strength-based supervision.

·         Demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively provide care to people from different cultural groups.

·         Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

·         Must be able to meet Immigration Reform Act of 1986 requirements.

·         Must have a valid California Driver’s License, proof of insurance and use of personal automobile.
