Clinical Services Supervisor

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the Clinical Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the trainee/intern/associate component including providing clinical supervision, overseeing documentation, and providing staffing and training in select milieu programs.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide clinical supervision to marriage and family therapy and social work trainees/interns/associates.
  • Recruit, train and supervise trainees/interns/associates. Manage school trainee/intern placement requirements
  • Keep current with legal and regulatory requirements for clinical supervision.
  • Liaison to graduate programs including representing BHI at intern fairs, etc., in the community.  .
  • In conjunction with Training Director, plan and coordinate monthly in-service trainings for the select milieu.
  • Complete reports and evaluations of trainees/interns/associates as required by the graduate schools.
  • Oversee clinical documentation in accordance with regulations.
  • Supervises the client milieu and/or leads groups for clients as needed.
  • Crisis intervention and consultation as needed.
  • Respond to requests for information about BHI.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Required Qualifications:


  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related field plus a minimum of five years’ experience working in a community mental health program and two years’ experience providing clinical supervision.
  • Must possess a valid LMFT, LCSW or Ph.D. license.
  • Must be licensed with BBS and eligible to supervise with 2 years prior supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with (or ability to quickly learn) evidence-based practices such as Motivational Interviewing, WRAP, Seeking Safety, Solution Focused, and CBT.
  • Direct experience working with diverse racial and ethnic populations.
  • Understanding of basic theoretical and developmental principles of trauma and community-based mental health
  • Knowledge, understanding, and willingness to work with interdisciplinary approaches and partnerships
  • Understands how to develop Treatment Plans which have SMART Goals and meet Medical Necessity
  • Ability to pass various background checks needed to work with adults challenged with mental illness
  • Well versed in mandated reporting laws, child development, family systems, stages of change, and co-occurring mental health and substance use/abuse conditions
  • Knowledge of DSM-V and ICD-IO Diagnosis
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of individual, couples and family therapy
  • Knowledge of case management; clinical social work; physical and mental illness and their impact on personality; social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances with adolescent and adult populations
  • Thorough knowledge of the professional code of ethics and the CA medical regulatory requirements, and CA mental health code
  • Ability to work independently and to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills.
  • Multi-tasking, ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to secure and record accurate and clinically pertinent psycho-social data
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a member of the team.
  • Ability to be compassionate and create a welcoming environment for clients as well as ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively on competing demands on time.
  • Must be able to maintain flexible work schedule in accordance with client and program needs.
  • Solid written skills to meet required standards of documentation.
  • Must be able to meet Immigration Reform Act of 1986 requirements.
  • Must have valid California Driver License and a driving record acceptable by the Agency’s insurance company.
