Berkeley Creative Living Center (CLC)

First Congregational Church

Founded in 1971, the Berkeley Creative Living Center (CLC) is a socialization program for adults who have significant mental health problems. Operating two days a week in facilities generously contributed by First Congregational Church of Berkeley, CLC provides socialization, rehabilitation and counseling services to clients.

Groups include: gardening, art studio/art therapy, creative writing, support/discussion, men's/women's groups, living skills, movement, relaxation and pre-vocational training. The program serves approximately 175 individuals each year.

CLC is open Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Nutritious lunches are provided for a nominal charge to members, volunteers and staff.


The Creative Living Center celebrated its 35th Anniversary at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley, 2345 Channing Way in 2006.

CLC's art program, funded in part by the City of Berkeley Arts Commission, has been a dynamic part of the program for many years.


Annual Art Show

This year the Creative Living Center’s annual art show will exhibit at the SomArts Bay Gallery at 934 Brannan Street in San Francisco. The show runs from March 1-21st, 2007. Gallery hours are 2-7 pm, Tuesday-Friday, and 1-5 pm on Saturdays.

 

The exhibit, From Isolation to Connection, features 25 artists and 100 works from CLC – our largest show ever.
