Case Manager/Clinical Supervisor

Bonita House, Inc. (BHI) is a well-respected nonprofit mental health agency with multiple sites in Alameda County and an operating budget of 7.5 million.  Founded in 1971, we offer a range of services for people diagnosed with co-occurring psychiatric disabilities and substance abuse disorders.


Position Summary:
Under the general directions of the Program Director, the Case Manager/ Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing direct services and support to the members of the Outpatient & Day Rehab program within the Creative Wellness Center.  The Case Manager/ Clinical Supervisor are responsible for providing counseling, groups & intake assessments of clients.  Administer clinical supervision of staff and interns.
Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Provide clinical oversight of all direct case management services
  2. Provide clinical supervision to staff
  3. Provide and coordinate staff training
  4. Complete initial screenings and assessment for Casa Ubuntu and other related programs
  5. Provide direct services to participants with the highest clinical need
  6. Perform Case Management and stage-based dual diagnosis treatment services including integrated assessment, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and social skills training.
  7. Utilize Solution Focused Brief therapy
  8. Conduct outreach to engage clients and enlist family support
  9. Provide psychoeducation, skills-building, and linkages to community supports
  10. Maintain appropriate Medi-Cal clinical documentation
  11. Performs duties of mental health and substance abuse counselor in Day Rehab program.  As a member of the clinical team, coordinates treatment and services for adults who have a psychiatric disability or who have co-occurring disorders, provides ongoing assessment, counseling and intervention; establishes linkages and acts as a service broker to meet clients' comprehensive needs
  12. Provides crisis management services as needed
  13. Responsible to plan and facilitate a variety of treatment groups in the Day Rehab program  
  14. Conducts intake interviews as assigned that include: community liaison functions; clinical assessments; and written documentation
  15. Additional clinical responsibilities include: formulating individual treatment plans for client caseload and providing case management services; assisting in clinical staff meetings; participating in individual supervision and group supervision; and acting as a liaison with other mental health agencies
  16. Recruit, train & supervise interns.  Case Manager/ Clinical Supervisor are to keep current with                legal and regulatory requirement for intern supervision.
  17. Update CLC paperwork
  18. Complete reports and evaluations for school intern placements
  19. Documentation responsibilities include writing weekly progress notes.  It is a requirement of the position that client charts be maintained in a timely way according to regulatory standards.
  20. Responsible for monitoring compliance with state and county licensing/certification requirements and specific on-site program operations as assigned
  21. Participate in planning and conducting occasional outings and holiday events
  22. Assume responsibility for smooth operation of program during Program Director's absence
  23. Perform office management tasks as assigned.
  24. Other duties assigned by Program Director


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Must possess a LMFT, LPCC, LCSW or Psychologist license plus a minimum of two years supervision experience working in a community mental health program
  • Spanish speaking/bilingual persons and people with lived experience encouraged to apply.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work both independently and as a member of the team.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively on competing demands on time.
  • Must be able to maintain flexible work schedule in accordance with client and program needs.
  • Solid written skills to meet required standards of documentation.
  • Must be able to meet Immigration Reform Act of 1986 requirements.
  • Must have valid California Drivers License and a driving record acceptable by the Agency’s insurance company.
  • Must be able to pass physical examination.
  • One year experience providing co-occurring mental health and substance abuse treatment to priority populations.
