Physical Health Resources
Founded in 1984 by Tisha Kenny, Joel Clark and Lawrence Williams, and located in Berkeley, CA, the Health and Human Resource Education Center (HHREC) is committed to improving the health and quality of life of Bay Area residents by reducing the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and eliminating racism and violence of all kinds. HHREC utilizes multiple strategies including creativity, community-based process and environmental prevention.
The Free Clinic was founded in 1969 as a "street medicine" clinic that quickly found a niche and a permanent home in the Berkeley community. It has become an icon in the area, and has served countless thousands in a variety of ways during its 40-year history.
