Supported Independent Living Housing
Bonita House Inc.’s Supported Independent Living (SIL) Housing Program provides long-term permanent supportive housing to low-income adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and are living with serious mental health challenges, to help them experience independent, healthy, and satisfying lives.
The program is designed to end participants’ homelessness and increase access to ongoing physical and behavioral health services.
- Residents are supported to:
- Create a life of personal meaning
- Make their own decisions
- Develop and manage their life in a community of their choice.
Eligibility
- Alameda County residents
- Single adults 18+ with severe mental health and substance use issues
- Individuals with atable source of income, such as SSI (Supplemental Security Income), SSA (Social Security Administration), SSDI, employment, etc.
- Able to function in minimally supervised group living
- Able to handle basic life skills (medication management, budgeting, personal grooming, cooking, cleaning, etc.)

Referrals are through the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services ACCESS Program, the system-wide point of contact for information, screening and referrals for mental health and substance use services and treatment for Alameda County Residents,
