About Bonita House
Bonita House, Inc., a private, nonprofit Mental Health agency founded in 1971, offers services to adults with serious psychiatric challenges and specializes in treatment for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Our continuum of care includes dual diagnosis residential treatment, wellness center day programs, supported independent living, housing, outreach & engagement, employment services, and mobile crisis response teams throughout Alameda County.

Residential Treatment
The Dual Diagnosis Residential Program’s evidence-based practices integrate mental health and substance use interventions, treatment, and recovery to help clients build the skills necessary to function in the living, learning, working, and social environment of their choosing.
Wellness Centers
The Centers provide a safe, inclusive environment with activities that enhance well-being and recovery, and provide socialization in a caring community that fosters self sufficiency. The programs offers creative expression through art, and participants are encouraged to design their own wellness program based on their interests and goals.
Supported Independent Living ( SIL)
SIL offers an array of services to support clients in maintaining their basic everyday needs, including housing, and in finding meaningful roles and activities in the community. Participants have access to behavioral rehabilitation as well as psychiatric medication support and assessment.
Mobile Crisis Services
Mobile Crisis Teams respond in coordination with law enforcement to mental health emergencies, and to brings behavioral health experts on scene to provide de-escalation, a mental health assessment, crisis management, and to determine the most appropriate disposition for the person in need and facilitate that process.
In Home outreach (IHOT)
IHOT provides short-term outreach using a trauma informed, culturally responsive approach, and engages with individuals living with serious, untreated mental illness to link them to behavioral healthcare and other community services tailored to their complex needs.
CalWORKs
The CalWORKs Phoenix SKILLS Program provides services to clients and their families experiencing mental health challenges that create barriers to employment and education and seeks to empower them as they move towards self-sufficiency.

IHOT helped “James” understand and express his needs, and connected him with multiple layers of support to increase his mental health and improve his lifestyle.
Nicole
“Nicole” took charge of her mental wellness, earning her CNA through the Salvation Army Quest program and finding part-time work. Her depression symptoms are greatly reduced, and she’s writing a new chapter in her life.
Dawn
With CalWORKS support, “Dawn” found housing and employment, and started a part-time business in the food industry to better support her family, advancing toward her goal of self-sufficiency.
Marcus
The Bonita House Residential Treatment Program helped “Marcus” quit substance use and improve his mental health. Today, he is a leader in the SIL Housing program and in his community.
